Google has rolled out yet another feature to it’s popular Google My Business platform. In previous months, the company brought back it’s “business description” feature, introduced the “menu items” feature for pubs and restaurants and added the “services feature” for all small businesses. Now select small business owners will be able to add videos and photos to their “Google posts” section within their business listing.
To add a video or photo, you’ll need to first sign into the Google My Business interface. If your business has multiple locations, you’ll first select the location you want to edit after signing in. As soon as you make your selection, you’ll see the button “create post” on the front page. Click that and then you’ll be able to create a customer post using text, videos or photos. The videos and photos display just fine on both mobile and desktop devices for users when tested. What type of content would a business owner create and include in a Google posts video? Google posts are most frequently used to announce upcoming sales and promotions, relay holiday notes to customers, and other important announcements such as changes to business hours. The Google posts section is completely custom and business owners can publish almost anything to them. Keep in mind that all Google posts are only temporary and business owners will need to update this area after the post expires.
For local businesses, making sure your Google My Business listing is strategically optimized is very important. For businesses with a national or international customer base, a Google My Business listing may not be as important. Nevertheless, all businesses should pay special attention to their Google My Business listing, especially when it comes to reputation management.
